You knew we were coming. You knew we would need to be admitted for IV fluids, specifically on the Neurology floor because you know she has seizures. You know my child's history, its in every system you have: Neurology, Audiology, Vision, Newborn Medicine. We were just in radiology this week, and outpatient lab, and EEG. We have been in your ER before. She was transported here 2 hours after her birth! You asked me for her list of medications 4 times. Guess what, I missed one of them. When you came to check that you had them right you somehow had that one too. We sat in your ER for 5 hours and answered the same questions from multiple doctors who have never seen her before and will never see her again. This was AFTER the ones who know her and knew she was coming dropped in to move the process along, discussed the plan and course of treatment, and told me she would be admitted. But still these ER docs had to ask things like: has she been ill, was she premature, why isn't she eating, has she been grabbing at her ear. Has she been grabbing at her ear? My daughter has Cerebral Palsy, the most severe form. If she was grabbing at her ear, because it hurt or otherwise, we would be throwing a party, not visiting your fine establishment. Give me my 5 hours back. And my $100 copay. This, my friends, is a top children's hospital in the nation. This is the best we have to offer.

But we have a room. And we have IV fluids. And a minute ago she was smiling.
